Sunsetting

As previously stated, this website (as it is currently hosted) will be sunsetted on 2027-06-23 (when the domain is due to expire). I can no longer support hosting this website due to financial and time constraints. If you would like to take over the running of this website, please email me at noid-admin DOT retinal675 AT passmail DOT net (PGP key at bottom of page), so I can assess that you are adequately equipped for hosting the necessary infrastructure. You will need to indicate that you can:

• Take over the domain name (nooneisdisposable DOT org), the current renewal costs are ~ 20 USD per year; or indicate that you would move to a different domain
• Host the website
  • This is a static website, and is currently hosted using Gitlab Pages with a custom domain
  • Any appropriate replacement should be costed for, or be free
• Be willing to update the website as appropriate including:
  • Updating the resource library (see below for more information)
  • Changing the Discord link as appropriate
  • Changing any blurb as appropriate
• Take over administration of the mailing list
• Take over ownership of the non-public Proton Mail address for the group
• Make periodic back-ups of the site to the Internet Archive, archive.today, etc.
• Perform any ad-hoc web administration tasks as required by the Working Group

You will also need to be approved for this work by the current No One Is Disposable working group, an email from any of the current working group members showing this approval to the above email will suffice. If this and the above are true, I will create a handover document and change credentials / permissions as necessary.

Resource library

The website is built using Jekyll, and the resource library is a Liquid loop over resources in a CSV file. Items to appear in the library are solicited using Google Forms, and are periodically exported to CSV, manually verified, and checked into version control (Git) for the Jekyll project. When pushed to Gitlab, CI/CD performs a build of the static site, and Gitlab Pages picks up the new build and hosts it at the custom domain.

The repository belongs to a private group on Gitlab, and can have up to three contributors under the current free plan.

You may decide to change this, but this will require future deliberation with the Working Group (i.e., it will occur post-hand off).

Contingencies

If no handover takes place, I will let the domain expire on 2027-06-23, and will delete the Gitlab repository. The source for the website is available at: https://codeberg.org/noid-admin/website. If no handover does occur, and someone wants to restart the website, the backup will provide the resources to start again. I’d rather not let this happen, and will work in good faith to make sure it does not. The email address provided above will expire after that date too.

If handover happens, my support for the website will end on that date, the website will be updated to say this, and any questions of administration will need to be passed to the present website admin.
